Cyr Demolition of Rumford began razing the brick stairwell to Rumford’s Municipal Auditorium, left, and other parts of the building Saturday morning. By Monday morning, the structure was removed, right. It’s the first step in an $828,000 renovation project. A new, larger stairwell with a landing will be built. Other planned modifications to the nearly century-old building include construction of handicap-accessible bathrooms and enclosure of some offices and part of the entrance to the auditorium.
