WINTHROP – The Dave Rowe Trio will bring its three-part harmony, guitar picking and fiddling to the Winthrop Performing Arts Center Saturday, Oct. 13.
The group began in the spring of 2004, when Rowe was looking for a new direction following the death of his dad, Tom Rowe, a founding member of the trio Schooner Fare. Rowe met fiddle player Ed Howe and bass guitarist Kevin O’Reilly and asked them to join him on an album he was producing as a tribute to his father.
The trio, known for its high-energy mix of Celtic, bluegrass, folk and maritime music, has released five critically acclaimed albums and tours nationally throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic states and Midwest.
“In their youthful zest, pulsing melodicism and pedal-to-the metal energy, Rowe and his pals prove there’s nothing retro about carrying on the family name,” wrote Scott Alarik for the Boston Globe.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors. The art center is at 211 Rambler Road. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
