AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Labor announced Tuesday the steps that former workers of Richardson Hollow Mental Health Services of Lewiston can take to ensure they get money owed to them by the defunct company.

• keep records of the earnings owed;

• keep a record of hours worked since the last time they were paid, fax a copy of that information to the Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Standards at (207) 623-7934 and send a copy to Richardson Hollow requesting payment of wages owed;

• call the Maine Department of Labor Unemployment Claims Center at 1-800-593-7660 or TTY: 1-888-457-8884, even if a claim has already been opened;

• call and speak with an employee at the claims center;

• call 1-888-457-8883 or TTY: 1-800-794-1110 to connect with their local CareerCenter for information and services;

The department has a Wage Assurance Fund that pays wages of employees whose companies have gone out of business and not paid them, spokesman Adam Fisher said. It may take up to a couple of weeks for those payments, he said.
