Roy and Thelma Nickerson, seated right, were recently honored and thanked by Turner Town Manager Eva Leavitt, far left, and Selectwoman Jody Goodwin, standing, for their contribution of land at the intersection of Main Street and Route 117. The land has been made into a small gateway park with benches and fencing and named Nickerson Overlook. The landscaping will be completed in the spring. The Nickersons owned and ran a country store on the site for several decades. Funding for the park came through a Gateways Grant from the Maine Department of Transportation written by Goodwin and former Town Manager Jim Catlett. Thelma Nickerson said, “this town has been very good to us and we are very thankful for what you have done.”
