Between Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 a.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 a.m. the department responded to 511 calls for service. Of those calls, 120 of them were motor vehicle stops.

Criminal mischief

A vehicle parked in the parking garage at 1 Oak St. was damaged between 1-3 p.m. on Oct. 1. It appears as though someone punched the car several times.

A bog bridge made of 4-by-4 timbers located on the Androscoggin Land Trust property along the river behind River Valley Apartments was torn apart sometime prior to Oct. 1.

Sometime between Sept. 26-28 a vehicle parked at 12 Wood St. was scratched near the rear of the car.

An apartment window at 54 Knox St. was shot out by BBs.

A gate at the Southern Gateway parking garage was broken overnight Sept. 29-30.

Sometime overnight on Sept. 28-29 a window screen at 113 College St. was pried off a first-floor window. Nothing appeared to have been taken from inside.

A vehicle parked at the Lewiston Police Department was keyed between 1-2 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Thefts

Sometime overnight Sept. 29-30, an unlocked vehicle at 88 Fairlawn Ave. was entered. House keys, change and sunglasses were stolen.

A red and yellow Gary Fisher Marlin mountain bike with comfort saddle and a water bottle cage was stolen from the bike rack outside of the Hacker House at Bates College between 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. A bike lock was cut in order to take it.

Burglaries

An apartment at 122 Howe St. was burglarized between 6-11:50 p.m. on Sept. 30. A room in the boarding house was entered, a Dewalt Sawzall and $150 were taken from inside.

Drug trafficking Arrest

Waldemar Nieves, 29, was arrested on a charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs on Sept. 28 at 2:33 a.m. after officers responded to this address acting on a tip that a male was dealing in crack cocaine from this address. The apartment renter allowed officers to come into the apartment, where they found Nieves on the couch in possession of 14 grams of crack cocaine.

Police Chase

At 3:49 a.m. on Sept. 29, Lewiston police attempted to stop a vehicle after running a red light on Main Street, but the operator failed to stop and a chase into Auburn started. When the operator reached excessive speeds, the chase was called off. It wasn’t until later when officers made contact with the vehicle owner that they learned the vehicle had been stolen from River Road in Auburn, where the owner was having work done on it. Then in Auburn at 4:19 a.m., a resident of Auburn called in a possible burglary in progress at 17 Winter St. Upon arrival, police found James Carver, 24, in the same car. There were also two illegally attached plates on the car that had been stolen from Portland. Carver was placed under arrest and charged with violation of bail conditions and unauthorized use or property.

Registered sex offender

Robert Raftice, 21, is a registered sex offender who was convicted of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact in 2007 against a child under 14 years of age. He is on probation and is residing at St. Martins at 23 Bartlett St. He has conditions of no contact with anyone under 16 years of age.

Operating under the influence arrests

Ricky Baillargeon, 26, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and operating while license suspended on Sept. 28 at 12:51 a.m. at Pub 33 following a routine traffic stop.

Kristen Castonguay, 21, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence on Sept. 29 at 1:05 a.m. on the Veteran’s Bridge following a routine traffic stop.

Operating After Suspension Arrests

Kevin Cunningham, 35, was arrested and charged with operating without a license on Oct. 1 at 10:46 p.m. at 344 Pleasant St. following a routine traffic stop.

Theodore Brassley, 30, was arrested and charged with operating while license suspended on Oct. 2 at 5:51 a.m. at Bartlett Street and East Avenue following a routine traffic stop.

Steven Hall, 50, was arrested and charged with operating after suspension on Oct. 3 at 12:25 a.m. at Randall Road and Payne Street following a routine traffic stop.
