OTISFIELD – Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a horse on Bolsters Mills Road on Thursday morning.

Deputy Chris Davis of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said a small, dark vehicle, possibly a foreign model, hit a loose horse and left the scene.

“The horse was seriously injured and had to be put down,” said Davis.

Davis said the horse was shot before he arrived at the scene.

He said there was no physical evidence of the collision at the scene, and the car was last scene heading in the direction of Harrison, likely with severe front end damage.

“They left the scene of an accident, which isn’t a serious crime, but it’s pretty thoughtless,” said Davis.

Anyone with information about the car should call the Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-733-1421.
