PARIS – A woman charged in a drug bust last year in Rumford was among those entering pleas before Justice Roland A. Cole at Oxford County Superior Court on Thursday.
Mary Packard, 36, of 9 Parker St. in Mexico pleaded guilty to the less serious charge of furnishing of scheduled drugs in exchange for dismissing the more serious charge of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs.
Packard was one of several people arrested last October after an eight-month investigation by local, state, and federal authorities into a Rumford cocaine ring. Assistant District Attorney Joe O’Connor said Packard had supplied an agent wearing a wire with 1.9 grams of cocaine. O’Connor said Packard has a felony drug conviction from 2000.
Packard was sentenced to serve 18 months of a four-year sentence as well as a two years of probation. She will be required to pay a $400 fine, refrain from using illegal drugs or alcohol, and take substance abuse counseling.
Kenneth Ronald White, 51, of 141 Covered Bridge Road in Andover, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual touching of an Andover woman. He was sentenced to serve 60 days of a four-year sentence and two years’ probation. He must also register as a lifetime sex offender.
White has convictions for gross sexual assault from Oxford and Sagadahoc counties in 1986 and 1992, respectively.
Calvin Ames, 47, of 16 Dow Farm Road in Turner pleaded guilty to two of 12 counts of unlawful sexual contact, including one from Androscoggin County. He is charged with having a sexual relationship with a Buckfield teen between February and April. His sentencing has been continued pending an examination by the State Forensic Service.
Matthew Power, 43, of 438 Main St. in Norway pleaded guilty to violation of sex offender registration. Power has convictions for failing to register in 2005 from Lewiston District Court and in March from South Paris District Court.
Power was sentenced to serve 30 days of a one-year sentence. He was also ordered to serve one year of probation and register as a sex offender for life.
John Hall, 45, of 31 Almanac Way, West Boylston, Mass., pleaded guilty to driving to endanger. A charge of operating under the influence was dismissed.
Hall was charged with operating a tractor-trailer truck that damaged three vehicles in the parking lot of the NewPage paper mill in Rumford in February. He was fined $1,000 and his right to operate vehicles in Maine was suspended for 30 days.
