Potluck meal
WATERFORD – The Wilkins Community House will hold its first community potluck supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. Hosting will be Joann Fillebrown and Alice Jewel. People can bring a dish to share. Rolls and beverages will be provided. The Community House is located on Plummer Hill Road.
Haynes to speak
WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will meet at the Wilkins House at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, with potluck refreshments.
In addition to a business meeting, the speaker will be Bill Haynes on “Lumbering in Waterford and the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine.” Everyone is welcome and other speakers may also be in attendance.
Craft fair
PARIS – There will be a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Legion Hall on Church Street. There will be a refreshments counter.
Rummage sale
NORWAY – The fall rummage sale will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Catherine’s Church, Paris Street, in the lower level. Clothing for men, women and children will be sold.
In addition to the rummage sale, there will be a sale of household goods in the garage adjacent to the church. A large donation of miscellaneous items is anticipated.
All the money raised will be used to sponsor the youth ministry at St. Catherine’s Church.
Waterford Santa
WATERFORD – Waterford Santa is starting its third year of Christmas gift assistance. Applications for assistance will be handed out to the Waterford School children the week of Oct. 9. Application forms are also available at town office. Deadline for receiving request forms will be Saturday, Nov. 10.
A new program, “Operation Back-to-School,” provided backpacks, school supplies, sneakers and clothing for several children and funds need to continue to be raised. Green rack cards are placed in many locations in Waterford as well as at the post offices. The cards have all the information needed.
Those who would like to shop for a gift should call 583-6677 or fill out and mail a green rack card. Request slips will be ready on Nov. 13. Money donations may be mailed to Waterford Santa, PO Box 298, Waterford, ME 04088. For more information, call 583-6677.
