This is in response to Vinay Desai’s comments (Oct. 1) regarding Auburn school bus drivers.
I found it offensive that he would generalize that all school bus drivers are a rash lot. My father is a school bus driver for the Auburn School Department. He is retired from the Army after serving more than 20 years in military transportation. He continues serving his country and community as a bus driver. It is a job that requires a lot of patience, which many appreciate, but some do not.
One solution to the problem of excess traffic at the Auburn Middle School/Court Street intersection would be for parents to utilize the bus service provided for their benefit, rather than bringing their children to school individually.
Certainly, the solution to the problem is not to find fault in the bus drivers who, on a daily basis, perform a difficult and challenging job.
