Dear Sun Spots: This is to answer a couple inquiries I have received regarding our next monument with names of veterans for Veterans Memorial Park.

The next monument for names will be the 14th monument erected and listed in our directory as such. The “Remember The Maine” monument is the 13th monument and was unveiled Sept. 1.

Veterans who want to get on the next monument of names need to get their application in the mail no later than Oct. 27. The monument could be completed before that deadline as we had given out dozens of applications last week when the Dignity Vietnam Traveling Wall from Fortin Funeral Homes was at Veterans Park. The monument would be unveiled for Veterans Day and be the third one we would have unveiled this year.

For applications phone Gerry at 782-6621 and/or mail your applications to Gerry Cain, 53 Oxbow Drive, Lewiston, ME 04240-2137. – Gerry Cain, Lewiston.

To the reader noting that Obie’s in Lewiston was available for readers seeking shoe repairs: That phone number has been disconnected and owner Yves Arondel de Hayes had mentioned to Sun Spots in the past that he was expecting to cut his hours. The store now appears to be closed.

Dear Sun Spots: Are there any local buyers for old LP albums and used romance novels? – No Name, Lewiston.

Answer:

Regarding your albums, Sun Spots frequently forwards readers with your record inquiries to Bill Cartmel of Lewiston. You may reach him at 783-1378. In addition, Cartmel says he knows a lot about music from the 1960s and pre-1960s. You might want to also contact Enterprise Records, 613 A Congress St., Portland, 773-7672. Please leave them a message if you have records to sell.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for someone who can provide expertise and experience in preparing rubber molds and resin parts for high-detail plastic model kits. I have made some molds and resin parts but would like to refine this activity. Perhaps there’s an experienced modeler out there who might be able to provide some expertise. I may be reached at 391 Hotel Road in Auburn or via phone at 782-0980. – Douglas Rogers, Auburn.

I am hoping you might now be able to help me. I am searching for green window shades for my home. No one in the Norway or Paris areas has been able to get them for a while. It used to be the only color you could buy. If anyone out there has any knowledge of where they can be found, please contact me. I really would like to know where they might be found. Thank you. – Margaret Ames, South Paris.
