WISCASSET (AP) – About 30 lobster boats paraded by this coastal town Thursday as fishermen showed their opposition to plans for a power plant that would be built at the former Maine Yankee nuclear site.
About 120 people on the shore held up signs supporting the lobstermen as the boats sailed by on the Sheepscot River.
The $1.5 billion plant would burn gas extracted from coal. Lobstermen say the Sheepscot River fishery would be threatened by coal barge traffic.
