BRUNSWICK – The Bowdoin College Department of Theater and Dance will present “365 Days/365 Plays,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks Oct. 19-21 in Pickard Theater.
The shows are free and open to the public. Showtimes are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. General admission tickets are available at the David Saul Smith Union information desk on campus, at 725-3375, and at the door.
The “365 Days/365 Plays” project has been called the largest-scale theatrical collaboration in U.S. history. The plays, written one each day over a year, are being presented across the country every week for 52 weeks by local theater companies and colleges and universities.
The Bowdoin production comprises Week 49’s seven very short plays (each play is five to 20 minutes in length). The 12-member student ensemble is directed by theater and dance department faculty collaborators Sonja Moser, Joan Sand, Gretchen Berg, Gwyneth Jones, Paul Sarvis, and June Vail. The hour-long production includes sound and video design by professionals David Pence and Dustin O’Neill, with lighting design by the department’s technical director Michael Schiff-Verre, and sets by assistant technical Director Deb Puhl.
