AUBURN – A man suffered facial cuts and a woman injured her back Monday afternoon when their vehicles collided on Washington Street.
Police said Samuel M. Pike, 18, of Auburn, was driving north on Washington Street about 3:40 p.m. when his Eagle Talon and a van pulling from the Hackett Road turnaround collided.
Pike attempted to avoid hitting the Ford van driven by Gilberte I. Farrell, 79, of Auburn, but his car struck the side of hers and both vehicles spun in the road.
Debris from the crash was flung onto a third car, a Dodge driven by Thomas B. Harrison, 19, of Mechanic Falls, who had been traveling behind Pike.
Police closed a section of Washington Street while rescue crews responded and cleanup began.
Pike suffered cuts to his face, and Farrell was examined for back pain.
Damage to Pike’s 1995 Eagle Talon and to Farrell’s Ford was estimated at $3,000 each. Damage to Harrison’s 1992 Dodge was estimated at $300.
