Seniors meeting

PARIS – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Market Square Restaurant, South Paris. Dinner will be ordered from the menu. There will be a bakeless bake sale, and bingo will be played if time permits.

Grange fair

WEST PARIS – West Paris Grange 298 will hold its annual fall fair, consisting of crafts, food, Christmas items, books, flea market table and veggies, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the West Paris Grange Hall, 4 Church St. Luncheon will be sold at noon.

Trap shoot

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Club will conduct a running deer and trap shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. The event will be staged at the Lake Thompson Fish and Game shooting range, Paine Road, East Oxford. For more information, contact Don Record at 539-4407.

Grange degrees

Kids’ day

OTISFIELD – Children of all ages are invited to the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, for games, treats and a variety of activities.

The goal of the event is for all participants to have a good time. For more information about this special day or about the church’s Sunday school program, call 627-7306.

Rabies clinic

WEST PARIS – A rabies clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at the West Paris Grange Hall, 4 Church St. The fee is $10 an animal.

Flu shots

BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital will sponsor a drive-thru flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 3, at the main entrance of the hospital. Cost is $15 and there is no insurance accepted; cash or checks only. Receipts are available.

The clinic was established to provide easy access to flu shots for adults in the community. For more information, call 647-6055.

Auction set

PARIS – The Oxford County 4-H program will hold the annual Take-A-Chance Auction on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.

Once again volunteer leaders and 4-H members will ask businesses for their support of 4-H in Oxford County. Money raised will be used to support county programs, which help members learn leadership, career exploration, self-esteem and other important life skills.

Those who would like to support the youth in Oxford County should call the Oxford County Extension Office at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482. Individuals are welcome to donate items. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the drawing starting at 7 p.m.

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game gun raffle winners have been announced: Tim Ricker, Frank Damon, Debra Clough, Jerry Phorna, Mark Farnum, Danny Witham, Gary Stack, Joe Tracy, Jon Lizotte, Dennis Amer; Ron Jugell, Jason Grant, Henry Jackson, Jeff Raymond and Norman Foster. Raffle drawing

NORWAY – The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association recently held the drawing for its gun raffle and the winners were as follows:

Bailey Charles, Gray; Fern Bosse, Poland; Steve Mahon, Naples; Tony DeBurra, Poland; Richard Miles, Mechanic Falls; Jim Merrill, Waterford; Mark Cushman, Poland; Eric Durgin, Hiram; Robert Merrill, Poland; Charles Harmon, Bridgton.

A separate raffle was held for a new circular saw and Ryan Purington was the winner.

Bridge results

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 12 in the Fare Share Common, Main Street. A five-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were John Bravo and Woody Mercier; second, Pete Cummings and Richard Allen, also were first in Flight B; third, Carol Curran and Les Buzzell. Second in Flight B were Della Starbird and Nancy Farmer. Finishing first in Flight C were Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens.

There will be another duplicate game Friday, Oct. 19, same time and place. All bridge players are welcome. For information, call Les Buzzell at 754-9153.
