LEWISTON – Police evacuated and locked down Shaw’s Supermarket on East Avenue for about two hours Wednesday morning after an employee reported a bomb threat.
The employee found a note inside the produce storage room at the store shortly before 7 a.m., stating a bomb would go off at 8 a.m., said police Sgt. Michael Whalen.
Police searched the store, which had opened at 6 a.m., but found “nothing suspicious at all,” Whalen said.
Employees were allowed back in the store at about 9 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation, Whalen said.
