LEWISTON – Harkening back to the time when the horse was a symbol of grace and majesty, the “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions are known for their spectacular leaps and maneuvers. The dancing white stallions will demonstrate those maneuvers Thursday, Nov. 1, at a show at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Tickets are $21.50 to $30.50.
This year marks the 37th anniversary season of the Lipizzaners. New music, choreography and routines have been incorporated into the anniversary production, with an emphasis on the historical background of the Lipizzaner – from its original breeding and use as a horse of war to a horse of nobility and aristocracy to an equestrian art form.
Arthur tackles real issues facing kids
LEWISTON- For more than 30 years, children have enjoyed reading “Arthur Adventure,” the award-winning book series by Marc Brown that has sold more than 60 million books worldwide. PBS TV began airing the “Arthur” television series just over a decade ago, and it continues to be one of the top children’s shows, as merited by winning a Peabody and five Emmy Awards.
“Arthur LIVE!” will be at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, and at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.
Arthur the Aardvark and his friends from Elwood City explore real issues that kids face in everyday life in this musical production. “Arthur LIVE!” stresses the values of teamwork and learning – and the joys of simply being a kid.
In this musical adventure, D.W. is jealous when her big brother Arthur loses a tooth and gets a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Arthur explains that the Tooth Fairy comes only when you lose a tooth and put it under your pillow at night, so D.W. dreams up some hilarious (but unsuccessful) plans to trick the Tooth Fairy into coming. Finally, Arthur decides to reward D.W.’s efforts by playing the Tooth Fairy himself.
Featured are a dozen original songs, including “Good and Ready,” “The Loose Tooth Wiggle” and “T-Rex Rocks.” The show includes the lovable, intrepid Arthur, his feisty sister DW, his good buddies Buster and Brain; his nemesis Francine – and new stars, including the warm, wise and wacky Tooth Fairy.
“Arthur LIVE!” runs about 90 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
Tickets prices are $26 for floor seating; $16 for reserved seating; $11 for outer reserved seating for all ages. Special group discounts are available for groups of 15 or more.
