SKOWHEGAN (AP) – A judge says a Canaan man accused of murdering his estranged wife and his live-in girlfriend is eligible for bail.

Superior Court Justice Nancy Mills points to problems with a state police affidavit in the ruling in favor of Shannon Atwood.

Atwood, who’s 37, pleaded not guilty to killing Cheryl Murdoch, whose body was found on August 11, 2006, in woods near Atwood’s mobile home. He’s also charged with killing his wife, Shirley Moon-Atwood, whose body has never been found.

For now, a bail hearing has yet to be scheduled and Shannon Atwood continues to be held pending trial.
