NORTH TURNER – The ghosts and goblins will be out in full force on Halloween at the second annual Fright Walk, a community Halloween event, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the GAR Hall on Route 219.

The community event is a revival of one that occurred for many years in the village of North Turner, then disappeared. The North Turner Presbyterian Church decided to revive it last year and will continue the tradition on Halloween this year.

More than 100 people attended last year’s event and a majority got scared, if the screams were a good measure. The downstairs will be set up with simple games and refreshments for the younger children while the fright walk takes place upstairs.

The theatrical production is designed in the best traditions of Halloween with ghastly and frightening scenes so parents are advised to leave the little ones to the kinder and gentler Halloween characters downstairs.

More than a dozen people were in costume for last year’s event and it is expected there will be that many or more this year. From the traditional witches and ghosts to the mad scientist with his hatchet, upstairs will scare.

There is no charge for the event, but freewill donations would be welcome to help defray costs for props and decorations to keep the tradition alive.
