LISBON – A nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide low-cost building materials to low-income households throughout Maine will hold an “Old Window Renovation Workshop” on Saturday.

The Building Materials Exchange workshop, to be held at 9 a.m. at 102 Lisbon St. (formerly Bradco Chair), is designed to help homeowners reduce energy costs by increasing the efficiency of old windows.

Studies have shown that an old window, maintained correctly, can actually have a better insulating value and last longer than spending thousands on window replacement, according to BME Executive Director Dave Zimmerman.

The BME and Jung window restoration will provide free information on how to improve old windows. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact BME warehouse at 636-7670 or go to the Web site: www.mainebme.org.
