To confer degrees

AUBURN – A special meeting of the Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Officers will confer the degrees of the order.

All Eastern Star members are invited to welcome the new members. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall after the meeting.

Memorial Mass

AUBURN – The Sacred Heart Golden Age Club will have a Memorial Mass for its departed seniors at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Dinner will follow at 12:15 p.m. at the Central Maine Community College. For reservations, call Paula at 576-4082 no later than Tuesday, Oct. 30. There will be no meeting in November. For details, call Irene at 782-6443.

Horror movie

AUBURN – F.W. Murnau’s 1922 classic gothic horror movie, “Nosferatu,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the First Universalist Church of Auburn.

The vampire film puts a twist on Count Dracula, casting him as a creepy enigma, rather than a dashing aristocrat. Tickets are $5 adults; $3 students and seniors, at the door. First Universalist is located at 169 Pleasant St.

Refreshments will be available. All proceeds will go to the organ fund. For more information, call 783-0461.

Library bingo

AUBURN – Auburn Public Library will host Longaberger Basket Bingo with Boyds Bears on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Hasty Community Center. Proceeds will benefit teen services. Taking names

BOWDOIN – The Bowdoin Community Giving Tree Project is accepting names for holiday gift giving needs. The annual program was created to assist families by providing gifts for children of Bowdoin for Christmas.

To have children’s names included on this year’s list or those who know of a family in need of assistance, contact Karen Mayo at 666-3375. All information is confidential. All names must be received by Friday, Nov. 16. To make a donation, contact Mayo at the number above.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 23 were: first, Rosemarie Goodwin and Fred Letourneau; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; first in B, Lue Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.

Winners at Schooner Estates in Auburn on Oct. 24 were: first, Les Buzzell and John Hackett; second, Martine Begert and David Lock; third, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; first in B, Lue Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.
