AUBURN – Capt. Frank W. Hulett Post 1603, Veterans of Foreign Wars, voted at the October meeting to hold monthly “Texas Hold-Em” card games.

Don Linscott, chairman, said, “We will probably hold them on Saturday afternoons until after the Patriots season; 25 percent of the revenue will go toward community activity programs and 75 percent will go to the ultimate champion.”

The game will be open to the public. The state has recently allowed nonprofit organizations to hold one game a month, maximum players will be 100 and the game must be concluded in 48 hours.

Members and anyone interested in helping or having suggestions should call Don Linscott at 782-6873.

Members voted to pay $225 to the DJ who will play at the Halloween dance on Saturday, Oct. 27; donate $400 to the Auxiliary for its help at the BNAS Air Show; and $50 for renting the hall.

They also voted to allow members of the newly forming men’s auxiliary the same canteen privileges as the regular members and Linscott was given permission to run the newly regulated “Texas Hold-Em” games.

The charter was draped for the deaths of Carlton Foster and Robert R. Anctil.

A report was made on the recently conducted Americanism program at the Auburn Middle School when five members presented a history of the American flag, its care and respect and the official way a flag should be folded.

Activities include the Halloween dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 27, with prizes awarded for Halloween costumes; free to members and guests; Sunday breakfasts from 8 to 10 a.m. at the post home on Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and 25, Dec. 9 and 23. Breakfasts are open to the public and all profits will be for community activity projects. Auxiliary suppers will be held on the first Friday of each month. The annual Thanksgiving turkey raffle will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16.

The next post and auxiliary meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14.
