BOWDOINHAM (AP) – Police say a 21-year-old woman was killed in Portland before her body was dumped in a stream in Bowdoinham.
The Maine Department of Public Safety says the victim whose body was discovered Saturday morning in a tributary of the Cathance River by an offduty sheriff’s deputy was identified as that of Jennifer Soto.
Spokesman Stephen McCausland said investigators believe Soto was killed in Portland, so state police are assisting the Portland Police Department. State police divers searched the river on Sunday for possible evidence.
An autopsy has been conducted on Soto’s body, but the state Medical Examiner’s Office declined to release the results.
