Halloween party
PARIS – A Halloween party will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the Paris Legion Hall for youngsters up to grade three. There will be a costume party, food and games. It is planned to finish in time for the youngsters to head off to Paris Elementary School for a Halloween party at 5:30 p.m.
OES supper
NORWAY – Oxford Chapter 168, OES, will meet Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Masonic Hall, Temple Street. A beef stew dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. to benefit “ESTRAL,” followed by a 7:30 meeting. All Order of the Eastern Star members welcome.
All Saints Sunday
PARIS – All Saints Sunday will be celebrated Sunday, Nov. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris.
Sunday school will start at 9 a.m. with a worship service at 10:15 followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
Worship music
PARIS – “Worship in Music” will be the focus at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, Nov. 4, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Paris. Forest Perkins, church organist, will present a program of English Voluntaries.
The usual medley of favorite hymns will be included. Renee Wales will direct the Sunday school.
Brunch will follow in Good Cheer Hall and everyone is welcome.
Girl Scout night
BETHEL – Girl Scouts of Maine will hold a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Bethel Alliance Church.
Girl Scouts of Maine serves more than 14,000 girls ages 5 to 17 statewide.
Parents will learn about the Girl Scouting opportunities that are available in the community.
Girl Scouts also have volunteer options for adults.

Bears dance
PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears will host a mainstream/plus dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, Paris. It will be Easy Mainstream with Kip Moulton, caller, and Linda Moulton, cuer.
Cost is $10 a couple, $5 a single Refreshments will be available at intermission Nondancers are welcome.
Tent nominates
NORWAY – The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19 met Oct. 25 at the home of Marilyn Jones. First nomination of officers for the new year was brought before the membership.
It was reported that four members attended the reception for Helvi Cary in Bryant Pond recently. Cary is the new president for the Department of Maine Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865.
Tent 19 will sell bars and lemonade at the Christmas parade on Nov. 24 in Norway.
The Sunday after Thanksgiving they hope to start filling Christmas stockings to be sent to service men and women overseas. All donations will be accepted. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, with a chowder supper at 6 p.m. at the home of Marilyn Jones.
Lodge meeting
CANTON – Whitney Lodge 167, AF and AM, will hold a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, for the annual inspection. It will be preceded by a casserole supper at 6:30.
All Master Masons are welcome.
