Any excuse to rally
They were swept in the World Series, but the Colorado Rockies will get a rally in downtown Denver today to celebrate the National League pennant they won. Boston fans were on the verge of ridiculing their Denver rivals until someone reminded them that they held a rally for Ray Bourque when he won the Stanley Cup – in Colorado.
Satellite state
Connecticut officials are upset that the university’s first game as a ranked football team, to be played Saturday night against Rutgers, will be televised on ESPNU, which is not carried by a major cable provider in the state. So, what, they don’t have sports bars in the state of Connecticut? Nobody has a dish? I’ve driven through some parts of Connecticut where they’ve got dishes on top of their dishes. If the earth ever loses its gravitational pull and all of the satellites hurtle off into space, the first state to panic will be Connecticut.
