Boys, girls staters relate experiences
NORWAY – The Stone-Smart American Legion Post and Auxiliary hosted Boys and Girls State delegates at their September meeting. For the first time in years, all the delegates were present to give a report on their experiences.
Marjy Sessions had charge of the potluck supper that began the evening program. Auxiliary Secretary Joyce Clifford introduced Girls State delegates Amelia Moore, Lorraine Gedat and June Chaves. Each said how much they appreciated being chosen and how much they learned about government on the town, county and state level.
Americanism Officer Randall Henley introduced Justin Gilmore and Nick Moody, the Boys Staters. They said they gained a great deal of information on government operations and thanked the Legion for sending them.
Following the reports, First Vice Commander George Tibbetts opened the meeting. Arnold Pendexter, Budget Committee chairman, gave a report of the committee and said it would have a written report to pass out as soon as one could be compiled.
A committee was formed to study and make recommendations on other ways to raise funds for the operation of the post. The committee consists of Randall Henley, chairman, John Rideout and Fred Denlinger.
The post has charge of the November meeting supper when they will honor the auxiliary’s birthday.
