HEBRON – Hebron Academy Middle School history teacher Steve Middleton and his group of “History Detectives” recently put on a display for the academy’s Homecoming Weekend. The History Detectives are students who are interested in Hebron Academy’s history, research areas of interest, and come up with discoveries.

Last spring, the detectives researched old pictures from the archives in order to see what has changed over the years and what remains the same. They created a “Then and Now” display of four locations in Sturtevant Class Building (which is the main school building): the reading room, the front hall, the headmaster’s office and the eastern rooms on the third floor. The posters were on display for the academy’s recent Homecoming Weekend.

Last year, research was done on the Third Academy Building, which no longer exists. “I want to show my students that history begins in your own back yard,” said Middleton.

They also explore several bottle dumps on the grounds of the school and sometimes find some old artifacts that tell of life in another time.

This year’s history detectives are Matt Fensore, Bryce Richmond, Matt Braley, Allison Cummings, Brad Geismar and Paul Webster-Pact.

For more information about the school, interested families should check the middle school section of the Hebron Academy at www.hebronacademy.org or call 966-2100.
