NORWAY – Western Maine Health President and CEO Timothy A. Churchill announced Friday that the breast cancer team at Stephens Memorial Hospital was the winner of an award from the American Cancer Society.

The team was notified by the New England Division board of directors that they were one of 47 other outstanding members to receive the 2007 American Cancer Society Sandra C. Labaree New England Volunteer Values Award.

The award honors volunteers in each state “whose actions and service in the fight against cancer most exemplify (American Cancer Society) organizational values.” The award was presented at a ceremony on Oct. 25 at the Marriott in South Portland.
