Talk of 60 mph wind gusts and torrential rain has persuaded the Maine Principals’ Association to postpone all of today’s field hockey and soccer state championship games on Friday.

All three field hockey finals at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland have been postponed for the second straight week.

The Class C championship game between Telstar and Foxcroft has been moved to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Class A and B will be contested as a doubleheader on Monday, with Sanford-Skowhegan at 5 p.m. and Maranacook-Waterville at 7 p.m.

All of the boys’ soccer matches have been rescheduled for Monday evening. This includes the St. Dom’s boys’ match against Madawaska, which is now scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday. The Class B boys, slated to play at Lewiston High School, will also play at 6.

The girls will get their chance Tuesday. This includes the Class B matchup at Lewiston, which will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Some college action also yielded to the foreboding forecast. The University of Maine at Farmington has postponed today’s North Atlantic Conference field hockey and women’s soccer title games. The contests have been rescheduled for Sunday. UMF is scheduled to host Husson in field hockey at 11 a.m. and in women’s soccer at 12:30 p.m.

According to officials at Bates College, the Bobcats are still scheduled to square off against CBB rival Bowdoin at 12:30 p.m. at Garcelon Field.
