Veterans’ lunch
AUBURN – American Legion Post 31, 426 Washington St. North, has announced events to celebrate Veteran’s Day.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, the post will open at 11 a.m. and veterans from the Maine Veterans Home in Paris will be guests for noon lunch. There will be music provided by Paul Farrell’s “Silver Tones.” All area veterans are invited. Call for meal reservations at 783-6992. The cost of the meal is a $4 donation.
Church concert
NORWAY – Local singer Kelsey Franklin (and Friends) will be featured in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Second Congregational Church, 210 Main St. The concert will feature a variety of music from theater and radio.
There will also be desserts served during intermission. There will be a $10 donation. For more information, call 743-2290. Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at the door.
VFW supper
HARRISON – A public supper will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the VFW Hall, Route 35. Menu will include baked beans, casseroles, macaroni and cheese, brown bread, salads, pies and beverage. Cost for adults $6 and children under 12 $3. It is sponsored by Ronald G. St. John VFW Post Auxiliary 9328.
Christmas sale
PARIS – A Christmas sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, Paris. There will be cookies, candy, crafts and Mrs. Claus’ closet. It will feature a cookie walk and Christmas gifts.
Church fair
PARIS – The South Paris Universalist Church on Pine Street will hold a holiday church fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The beef stew luncheon will be served with homemade biscuits and blueberry pie from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5.50. Takeouts can be ordered for the same price.
Vegetarian soup will be available for those wishing an alternative with the biscuits, beverages and pies. Tables will contain collectibles, handiwork and homebaked breads along with Thanksgiving and Christmas items.
Smorgasbord set
PARIS – A public smorgasbord supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the VFW Hall. Cost for adults is $6 and children 12 and under, $3. It will benefit the Waterford Fair Association.
AARP to meet
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Haskell House next door to the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris. There will be no lunch as the church women will make wreaths there.
After the meeting, members will plan a Christmas party. Betty Hayes and Pat Pulkkinen will give a report of their trip to Boston, Mass., and the AARP National Convention.
Snowflake fair
LOVELL – The United Church of Christ Ladies’ Circle will host a Snowflake Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
There will be a gift table with knitted items, fir pillows, notes, celebration baskets, Christmas tree ornaments, American Girl doll clothes, handmade jewelry and handbags.
On the food table, there will be pies, breads, cookies, cakes, squares, jams and relish. The greens table will have balsam wreathes and partridge berry bowls.
There will also be cherished treasures, including collectibles, toys, antiques and holiday items.
