Genealogy talk

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogy Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, the Farmington Public Library. Jean Richard will talk about Riley, a neighborhood in Jay, which no longer exists. Anyone interested in genealogy is welcome.

Craft sale

JAY – There will be a holiday craft sale and the thrift shop will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at the North Jay Methodist Parish It will be the last weekend of the season for the thrift shop. Saturday there will be a food sale and light luncheon available.

Town luncheon

FARMINGTON – The Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The menu will include homemade macaroni and cheese with or without ham, mixed vegetables, rolls with butter and apple crisp.

Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 on the morning of the luncheon for delivery.

Pajama dance

JAY – The VFW Auxiliary and Post 3335 will have a pajama party dance from 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 10, at the post home, Jewell Street, to benefit the VFW National Homes for Children.

Music will be provided by “Disco Bull.” Light snacks will be available. Those attending are encouraged to wear their pajamas. Tickets are $10 a person and are available at the door or by calling the post at 897-5112 after noon.

Veterans’ service

STRONG – Strong United Methodist Church will honor veterans during its worship service on Veteran’s Day, Sunday, Nov. 11. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. All veterans and families are invited to attend, whether they are affiliated with the church or not.

School program

RANGELEY – Rangeley Lakes Regional Middle School and High School Drama and Choir will present “Back to the 80’s, the Totally Awesome Musical” at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 14 to 16, at the Lakeside Theater, Main Street.

Tickets are on sale for $8 and can be bought or reserved through the main office at school. Call 864-3311, ext. 102.

Awards program

VIENNA – The Vienna Spirit of America Committee has chosen Hazel Small as the recipient of the 2007 award. The presentation will be made at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the North Vienna United Methodist Church. Light refreshments will follow.
