Major Stephen Joseph McLain III, formerly of Gilead, has been promoted to major in the U.S. Army.

As captain, McLain completed a tour in Iraq from November 2004 to May 2005. His headquarters was located in one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces in Baghdad.

McLain has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is completing his MBA. He is in training in Kuwait, waiting to be transferred to Iraq to perform his duties as comptroller of financial management.

McLain is the son of Lise (DuPont) and Stephen McLain Jr. of Gilead. He has two brothers, Bradley McLain of Newry and Joey McLain of Boseman, Mont. He is married to Florence (Dartt) McLain, who lives in Virginia with their three children, Marina, Nathan and Quinn.
