OES dinner

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The chapter will honor the sideliners. The meeting will be preceded by a ham dinner for a $3 donation. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Veterans events

AUBURN – American Legion Post 31, 426 Washington St. North, has announced events to celebrate Veterans Day.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, the post will open at 11 a.m. and veterans from the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris will be guests for noon lunch. There will be music provided by Paul Farrell’s “Silver Tones.” All area veterans are invited. Call for meal reservations at 783-6992. The cost of the meal is a $4 donation.

There will also be post and auxiliary meetings at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12.

Breakfast reset

AUBURN – The monthly men’s breakfast and Bible study set for Saturday, Nov. 10, has been rescheduled to 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Fellowship Hall of the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St.

On Sunday, Nov. 11, the church will honor those persecuted for their faith around the world as part of the World-Wide Persecuted Christian Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship celebration service on Sunday, Nov. 11. There will be special music and a video about the persecution.

Following the service there will be a Thanksgiving dinner for all those attending the service. The public is invited. A Bible school for all ages will start at 10 a.m.

The church also sponsors a scrapbooking group every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall in the back of the church, open to the public. For more information on the church, call Pastor Bruce Harris at 786-3988.

Sodality speaker

LEWISTON – The Ladies of St. Ann Sodality of Holy Family will hold a membership meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the church parish hall. The guest speaker will be Anita Wiles from SeniorsPlus, who will discuss “Medicare Scams.” A Medicare bingo will be played as well. The drawing for the cash raffle will also take place, and refreshments will be served.

DeMolay to meet

AUBURN – The Knights of the Sun Chapter, Order of DeMolay for Boys, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Auburn Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. All members of the chapter are encouraged to attend.

Club Richelieu

AUBURN – Club Richelieu International chapter will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, 775 Washington St. North.

Gov. R. Roger Lacerte of Lowell, Mass., is expected to visit. Chapter President Daniel Isabel hopes for full attendance.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

Discussion will be on “Breastfeeding: Avoiding and Overcoming Difficulties,” focusing on concerns about preparing to nurse baby at birth and adjusting to babies’ changing needs.

All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

DAR to visit Togus

AUGUSTA – Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Togus Veterans Center for the annual veterans meeting. Members should take a bag lunch and gifts for the veterans wrapped for Christmas. There will be a speaker after lunch. Call Bev Robbins at 577-0706 for more information.

Any woman over the age of 18 who can prove a direct blood line to a Revolutionary War soldier or someone who gave aid to the cause is invited to join. Genealogists are available to help with documentation.

Firefighters to meet

TURNER – The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Turner Fire and Rescue Department. A barbecue will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a meeting at 7. The program will include CMP electrical safety.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Nov. 5 were: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; fourth, Sue Kaluzynski and Larry Fortier; fifth in A, second in B, Ellie and Lindy Wigton; third in B, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; second in C, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games.

The Monday, Nov. 12, game will be played at Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Road, Auburn.
