WASHINGTON (AP) – The head of the agency that manages the Downeaster passenger train that runs between Boston and Portland is being recognized by Amtrak for her commitment to passenger rail service.

Patricia Quinn is executive director of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority.

At ceremonies in Washington, Quinn was one of three people nationwide who were given the President’s Service and Safety Award by Amtrak President and CEO Alex Kummant.
