The loud marching band blew into my ears. Even though they were practicing on the little football field, I could still hear them from the soccer field. My attention snapped back to the present where I was sitting, as I heard many loud jeers and cheers. I clapped to encourage my home team, Leavitt Girls Varsity Soccer.

The team’s keeper guarded the cage eagerly, not letting a goal in for the whole first half I quickly recognized girls from my team last year. During half time, we made our way down to the field below, merging ourselves into the busy crowd buzzing around the tents.

The junior, senior, sophomore and freshmen class tents sold things like green and white fluffy flip-flops, and Leavitt sports jerseys. We saw boxes of candy and buckets of soda and

water. Parents made and sold deserts, like whoopie pies, and soups and chilies. We heard clapping from the soccer field, and walked loudly back up to the benches.

Even though Leavitt lost 4-1, they made a gallant effort against a tough team. It was altogether a very fun experience. Go Leavitt Hornets!
