Task force walk raises funds for kids

FARMINGTON – The Old Crow Band kicked off the Franklin County Children’s Task Force annual Make Tracks for Kids walk-a-thon on Oct. 20 at the Meeting House Park gazebo.

Twenty teams with a total of 93 walkers traveled the 2.5-mile loop this year. Top fundraisers included Pine Tree Pediatrics, Franklin Savings Bank, Aramark (UMF food service), UMF Rocks Early Childhood Education and Camden National Bank.

These teams and a few others raised $6,638.10. The top three teams with the most walkers were UMF Rocks, 15; Armark, 11; and UMF College Republicans, nine.

The task force will present a plaque to Mellisa Clawson’s UMF Rocks team as Outstanding Community Leader, to be displayed at the University of Maine in Farmington.

Make Tracks for Kids is a yearly event for community members to support the programming of the Franklin County Children’s Task Force, which provides programs to strengthen families and reduce child abuse and neglect in Franklin County.
