FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition and the Ben Franklin Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital invite the public to attend a free community presentation on “Managing Your Diabetes over the Holidays,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Franklin Memorial Hospital medical library.

The presentation will feature a panel of four professionals with many years of experience in working with people with diabetes and with their family members.

Rita Porter, RN, and Nancy Thomas, RN, will discuss medication management and exercise tips, while Eileen Caffrey, RN, will talk about the effects stress has on diabetes and how to manage stress over the holidays.

Dietitian Eileen Liddy, MS, will address the importance of good nutrition in managing diabetes and offer some healthy holiday eating tips. There will be an opportunity for participants to share stories and ask questions.

Participants will also be encouraged to use the computers in the library to access helpful Web sites. A librarian will be available for assistance.

Light refreshments will be provided. Child care is also available upon advance request of at least three days.

The presentation is a part of the new Six O’clock Series, a collaborative effort of the the coalition and the Ben Franklin Center.
