Grange meeting

POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Road, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. Wreaths will be decorated and other plans made for the annual Christmas fair, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24.

Scrabble day

BRUNSWICK – Literacy Volunteers will hold an afternoon of Scrabble on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Unitarian Universalist Church community room, 15 Pleasant St.

Sign in will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m.; introduction and rules, 1 to 1:10 p.m.; and competition, 1:10 to 4 p.m.

People can register singly or as a member of a two-to four-person team. The registration fee is $10 a person.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve, a part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will hold Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St., at the Whitney Street entrance.

Seniors speaker

LEWISTON – Brother Irenee Richard, OP, founder and CEO of St. Martin de Porres Residence for the Homeless, will be the guest speaker at the Holy Cross Seniors meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the church hall. His topic will be “Called to Care,” based on his ministry at the residence.

All seniors are invited to attend and share a light lunch and social time that will follow.

Tickets for the Dec. 9 Christmas party will be available. It will be held in the church hall for $8. The meal will feature a turkey dinner with all of the fixings prepared by members.

Hummel club

LEWISTON – Nor’easter Maine Chapter, M.I. Hummel Collector’s Club, will meet at 7 p.m Monday, Nov. 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. New members and anyone interested in Hummels are welcome. Dance classes

WINTHROP – Squire Town Square Dancers will offer new classes beginning Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Winthrop Grade School.

There will be a free square dance demonstration from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Christ Episcopal Church, City Common, Gardiner.
