Cadets visit battleship

FALL RIVER, MASS. – Maine Cadet Corps members recently visited battleship Cove, spending the day learning about the history of the Battleship Massachusetts and the role of the warship in World War II.

The cadets also had the opportunity to tour the Destroyer Joseph Kennedy and the World War II submarine, Lionfish.

A former Eastern Block corvette and two U.S. Navy PT boats were also available as part of the educational outing.

The cadets had previously received a history lesson on the battleship Massachusetts and its role in the invasion of North Africa and later in the Pacific war.

The Maine Cadet Corps is a youth development cadet program open to young persons of good character between age 12 to 18.

Cadets participate in many activities, including rappelling, martial arts, marksmanship, survival training, orienteering, military drill and ceremony.
