Dear Sun Spots: In 1970 I was in second grade at Sacred Heart School. My teacher was Beverly Wright. I would love to be in touch with her. If anyone has information, please phone me at 515-1113. She was a great influence in my life and I would like to thank her. Former student. – Sandra in Lewiston.
Dear Sun Spots: While going through some old books, I found a photo of a girl wearing a baseball uniform and the caption reads Team Mate. The back of the card reads: Katie Brown, 1994, Age 10, (height, weight), hometown Norway, Position Outfield, Team Norway 11, League OHGS, Coach Bessie Daniels. Churchill Photography.
This young lady must be 23 or 24 years old by now. If Katie or a family member would like this photo, please contact Andy Beauchesne at 364-4561. – Andy Beauchesne, No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots wonders if you’ve thought of contacting the photographer, Churchill Photography in Hebron. The number is 966-2561.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for all of the helpful hints and useful information that you continue to provide to your readers. I have a bureau and night stand that are made out of wood and they have a musty smell to them, and I was wondering what would be the best way to remove the smell. I haven’t tried anything yet. Please help. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, several postings online at www.thriftyfun.com offer a variety of remedies: air your bureau outside for a day or so (when it’s not raining); place some unused cat litter in the drawers to see if that will help. Leave it in for a day or so and remove. You may have to do this more than once. Wash your bureau and nightstand with Murphy’s Oil Soap, pretesting to ensure you can wash it. Again, you might want to wash and air more than once. Other recommendations include placing some crumpled up newspapers in the drawers and leaving for a day or so.
You might consider the fresh air option first, then kitty litter and the soap as a final resort. Sun Spots wishes you the best of luck with this project.
