NAPLES – A benefit dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Legion Hall. All proceeds will be given to Danielle Emerson Lewis to help defray medical expenses due to an automobile accident. Music by Pete Finkle. There will be a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. Teachers meeting
GREENWOOD – The Oxford County Retired Educators Association will meet Friday, Nov. 16, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall for a program on the new education building and green heating at UMF and hear guests Martha and David Pillsbury. The fundraiser will be a silent auction, with members bringing items for others to bid on and money going to the scholarship fund. Registration will be at 10:30 a.m. and the business meeting will be followed by dinner. The program is usually finished by 2 p.m.
Blood drive
NAPLES – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Lake Region High School, 1877 Roosevelt Trail.
Church event
FRYEBURG – The Christmas Cupboard will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Fryeburg New Church, 12 Oxford St. There will be baked goods, fudge, mittens, knitted items, crafts, wreaths and a raffle.
Holiday fair
NORWAY – St. Catherine’s Sodality, Council of Catholic Women, will hold its annual holiday fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Parish Hall, Paris Street. There will be Christmas items, crafts, baked goods, trash to treasure and raffle. Coffee and snacks will be sold.
Fireman’s meal
NORWAY – The Norway Fireman’s Relief Association will hold a roast beef supper form 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Norway Fire Station. The menu will consist of roast beef, salads, vegetables, rolls, beverages and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and free for children under 6.
OES supper
NORWAY – A baked bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Masonic Hall, Temple Street. Menu will consist of baked beans, casseroles, bread, dessert and beverage. A $5 donation will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit Oxford Chapter 168, Order of the Eastern Star.
Church service
NORWAY – Services at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St., will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. The service will include the elements of a traditional Thanksgiving service with a wide look at the requirements of gratitude. The church choir rehearses at 9:30 a.m. Sundays and anyone who would like to sing with the choir is welcome. Child care is provided. The church is served by the Rev. Richard Beal.
Breakfast set
OXFORD – A hunter’s breakfast will be held by the Legion Riders from 5 to 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Oxford American Legion Post 112, 169 King St.
