PORTLAND (AP) – An animal rights group is giving Maine high marks as a top state to live – if you’re an animal.
The San Francisco-based Animal Legal Defense Fund has released a report rating the 50 states on their animal-protection laws. Maine was ranked at the top of the pack, along with California, Illinois, Michigan and Oregon.
The group put Alaska, Arkansas, Kentucky, North Dakota and Utah in the doghouse as the best states “to be an animal abuser.”
