PRENTISS (AP) – A suspect is due in court today in the killing of a man from Prentiss Township in Penobscot County.

Forty-eight-year-old Joseph Dumas was arrested Saturday on a murder charge following the discovery of 70-year-old Mario Litterio’s body in a wooded area. The state medical examiner’s office says he died from multiple gunshots to the head. Investigators say the two men were friends but are not disclosing details of Litterio’s death or commenting on a motive.

Dumas is being held in the Penobscot County Jail and is expected to make his first appearance today in Superior Court in Bangor.
