GREENE – A surprise 50th anniversary party was held Oct. 20 at the Jacques Cartier Club in Sabattus for Roland and Lorraine (Brown) Ray of Greene. The couple was married Jan. 6, 1958.

The party was given by their children, Randall and Linda Ray, Rolande Dean, Kathy and Brian Long, and Joan Ray. A ’50s theme was used and guests dressed in poodle skirts, bobby socks, kerchiefs, blue jeans, white tea shirts and sneakers.

The hall was decorated with a 50th anniversary banner with streamers and juke box and record decorations. The cake was decorated in fall colors, and a collage of pictures of the couple during their 50 years was on display.

Their son, Randall, was toastmaster and their grandson, Chad Asselin, read a poem he had written for his grandparents on their special occasion. The couple was joined by many family members and dear friends, and they received many gifts and cards. Dinner and dancing was held.

Surprising them were their daughters, Roland Dean from Alabama and Joan Ray from Louisiana, a grandson, Justin Ray and his wife, Dianna, from Georgia and a granddaughter, Pvt. First Class Katie Moran from Fort Stewart, Ga.
