Cook a turkey
LEWISTON – Chef Dan Caron from the Lewiston Regional Technical Center’s youth restaurant and catering operation, the Green Ladle, will hold a cooking demonstration on how to prepare a turkey from scratch from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the demonstration kitchen of the Nutrition Center of Maine, 208 Bates St.
Assisting Caron will be students from LRTC’s culinary arts program. Afterward everyone will have a full Thanksgiving meal.
The demonstration is free and is being offered primarily for Sisters of Charity Food Pantry patrons. The pantry gives out dozens of turkeys each year at this time, but many patrons don’t know how to prepare them.
Seniors to meet
AUBURN – The First Auburn Seniors will meet at the Hasty Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 21. A board of directors meeting will be held at 10 a.m. with the regular meeting at 11 a.m.
Tickets for $6 will be on sale for the Christmas dinner at Martindale Country Club on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Following a bag lunch, bingo will be played.
The winners of the pot of gold on Nov. 7 were Robert Adkins, Bernice Mushlit, June Bowman, Doris Michael, Donald Martin, Joan Dechene, George Remillard, Lucille Rybeck, Frances Robitaille and Norma Masse.
Grange supper
AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, for a potluck supper. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., after which bingo will be played downstairs. Members are reminded to bring unwrapped food items for prizes. All members and guests are invited.
SAD 52 classes
TURNER – SAD 52 has announced the following classes, sponsored by River Valley Adult Community Education:
A one-night class on tree ornaments will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Participants will make several ornaments. The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Adult Learning Center in Turner Center.
There will be a snowmobile safety class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Adult Learning Center.
