HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center conducts an Exercise for People with Arthritis class.

Exercises planned for those suffering with arthritis pain

LEWISTON – HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has announced its Exercise for People with Arthritis class, designed for individuals with rheumatic disease who are limited by impaired joint motion and/or strength.

Goals of the class include relieve stiffness, restore or maintain joint range of motion, increase flexibility of the structures surrounding the joint, restore or maintain muscle strength, improve posture and increase endurance.

The course will teach breathing and relaxation techniques; introduce activities to promote body awareness, posture, balance and coordination; incorporate exercises to improve body mechanics, range of motion, strength and endurance; and include practical tips for self-care and better health.

The class will be offered from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 20 through Dec. 20. The cost is $22 (fee is waived for HealthSteps core members).
