FARMINGTON – Educators, parents and community members interested in building school gardens or greenhouses are invited to a free workshop from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at four televised school sites in the region.

The event will feature presenters from the Athens and Cascade Brooks elementary schools discussing their projects and how gardens and greenhouses are enriching curriculum and student-learning experiences.

John Pino, a farmer and former school teacher, will present successful ways for schools to start and expand projects through classroom container gardens, using worms and sustaining school vegetable garden projects though the year.

The workshop will be telecast via the ATM system to the following locations: Mt. Blue High School, Farmington; Nokomis, High School, Newport; Skowhegan Area High School; and Oxford County, location to be announced.

The workshop is being presented by the Western Mountains Alliance as part of the Eat Smart Eat Local program. RSVPs are requested by Monday, Nov. 26.
