OTISFIELD – The Otisfield “Beginning with Habitat” maps have been completed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s staff.
At the request of the Western Foothills Land Trust and the Otisfield Conservation Committee, biologist Bethany Atkins will give a presentation about the Otisfield maps at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Otisfield Town Office.
The public is welcome. For more information about the program, go to www.beginningwithhabitat.org.
Beginning with Habitat is a habitat-based landscape approach to assessing wildlife and plant conservation needs and opportunities.
The goal is to maintain sufficient habitat to support all native plant and animal species currently breeding in Maine by providing each Maine town with a collection of maps and accompanying information depicting and describing various habitats of statewide and national significance found in the town.
The maps provide communities with information that can help guide conservation of valuable habitats.
