On Sat., Oct. 13, 2007 the Lisbon Greyhounds took to the University of Maine’s 3.1-mile (5K) cross-country course. We knew the event was going to be close but we weren’t sure by how much. The Greyhounds and the Winthrop Ramblers have been fighting back and forth for the majority of the regular season meets.

Greyhounds had beaten them in the Pre-Season Liberty Race at Cony High School, while the Ramblers beat Lisbon at the Festival of Champions in Belfast. Again, it went back to the Greyhounds when they beat the Ramblers at our home course at Beaver Park. The following week the entire Mountain Valley Conference (MVC) met at the UMA course where the score would be settled, where we would see who the better team is. For the fifth consecutive year in a row, the Lisbon Greyhounds claimed the MVC title.

Running first for Lisbon was Aaron Cloutier who came in fourth place overall, followed by Ethan Masselli (5th); Rob Patchell (7th); Alex Branson (9th); and Nick Jones (12th) to round out the top five runners. The overall team scores were Lisbon in first (37); Winthrop (41); Monmouth Academy (74); Hall-Dale (92); Wiscasset (136); Boothbay (152); and Telstar (184). Congratulations Lisbon Greyhounds!
