RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) – A West Rutland Couple have been ordered to appear in court to face charges of operating an unlicensed tattoo parlor linked to an outbreak of a drug-resistant staph infection.
Thirty-year-old Michael C. Mills and his wife, 27-year-old Tiffany D. Mills, were in court Monday to face unrelated misdemeanor cocaine charges. They’re to appear later to face charges of unlicensed tattooing, each count of which can carry up to a year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Officials say three people who got tattoos from the Millses had to be treated for a bacterial infection called MRSA, or methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
