4-H auction

PARIS – The Oxford County 4-H Leaders’ Association is hosting a Take-A-Chance Auction on Friday, Nov. 30, to benefit the 4-H programs in Oxford County. The proceeds will help the Leaders’ Association fund programs held for the youth of Oxford County.

The auction will be held at the Oxford Hills Middle School cafeteria, Pine Street, Paris.

In the past, more than 200 items were offered and it is expected that this year’s auction will exceed that. Many local businesses and individuals support the event with merchandise or gift certificates.

Dedication

WEST PARIS – The First Universalist Church of West Paris will dedicate two special examples of Peruvian folk art tapestries at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9. Featured guests will be dancer Debi Irons and Sara Wright, who has visited Peru and is the contact person for purchasing the works of art. The program will be followed by light refreshments. All are welcome.

New Year’s dance

PARIS – Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Country Ladds from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the American Legion, Church Street, Paris. It is a chemical-free event with door prizes, food and 50/50 raffle. Admission is $15 a person or $25 a couple Call 743-7965 for reservations and tickets.

Church supper

PARIS – The Deering Memorial Methodist Church, Main and Church streets, is hosting a pot roast supper with chocolate brownies and ice cream for dessert from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. There is parking behind the library and town office.

Home tour

PARIS HILL – A Christmas house tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, on Paris Hill. Approximately a dozen buildings, decorated and ready for the Christmas season, will be open. The cost is $20 a ticket, which includes lunch. Tickets are available at the academy building.

DAR party

FARMINGTON – Clarice Sturtevant will once again host the annual Christmas party of the Colonial Daughters Chapter, DAR, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at her home. Members are asked to take cookies for refreshments and nonperishable food items for the local food pantry. The women will participate in a Yankee swap gift exchange.
